The first ship of the new RIGEL ship class COT 43 The MT Mekong Star is a state-of-the-art chemical / oil tanker of the Handymax class, built by Hyundai MIPO Dockyard Co., Ltd., South Korea. Hyundai MIPO counts among the worldwide leading shipyards specialised in medium-size vessels of highest quality. Together with its three sister vessels MT Orinoco Star, MT Yukon Star and MT Zambezi Star, the MT Mekong Star will constitute the new COT 43 class with a cargo capacity of nearly 43,000 cubic metres. With a length over all of about 184.00 metres, a breadth of 27.40 metres and a draft of 11.50 metres, the vessel has a service speed of about 14.5 knots. Part of its equipment are high-performance cargo and ballast pumps, loading tanks with phenolic epoxy coatings, tank cleaning systems meeting the highest demands (effective tank cleaning), heating for all cargo and slop tanks as well as an inert gas system. Up to 7 different products can be loaded due to the set-up of one loading pump for each tank and 6 loading / unloading pipes as well as additional slop tanks. This double-hull tanker, designed according to the latest international safety regulations, is a tried and tested vessel type on the tanker market. |
