During the last years RIGEL has established its reputation as specialist for ice navigation. The main trade routes are situated in the Northern Hemisphere, focusing on ports in the arctic waters of Russia and Canada. These ports are characteristically important for transporting various petroleum products. Today’s fleet is employed worldwide in line with growing market requirements. High acceptance of RIGEL vessels guarantees maximum flexibility which is also reflected in the forthcoming fleet expansion by eighteen further units. Established in 1990 as a limited company,
the firm continued as from 1^st March 2000 as RIGEL Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG. The company is registered in Leer/
Germany with a branch office in Bremen developing, building and managing the fleet. Each vessel is a German limited partnership (Kommanditgesellschaft) with ship management performed by RIGEL. Exclusive chartering has been outsourced and is managed by Oceanwide Shipping & Chartering GmbH, also situated in Bremen.
